I help people create meaning and satisfaction in their lives. People call me when they discover themselves to be successful but not satisfied, in relationship but not intimate, or devoted but disconnected.
Psychotherapy is the exploration of the contours of your life. Each appointment is time for you to rediscover your strengths and to consider options to increase your satisfaction in love, in work, and at play. You can examine the patterns that keep you from being your best self.
You may work to more fully experience each stage of your life and the family life cycle. You may choose to explore deep yearnings and to understand and respect your dreams and urges.
Debbara has a Ph.D. in Psychology. She has specialized training in psychotherapy, couples therapy, and group therapy. Psychotherapy is like having a personal trainer for your emotional life and psychological wellbeing. It is a commitment to oneself and an investment in yourself to heal wounds and to achieve lifetime goals and emotional satisfaction.
Couples Therapy is where partners come together to work on themselves in the context of their intimate relationship. Bonding can be both wounding and healing. Therapy teaches relational skills and promotes healing. I help couples learn to manage conflict, to metabolize big feelings, to be influential with one another, to be more intimate if they desire, and to support each other to be their best selves.
Group Psychotherapy is a powerful and cost-effective medium for healing and personal growth. On a weekly basis people come together in a therapeutic and confidential relationship to help one another find their truth, their best selves, and the lives they want to live.
I provide training and supervision for doctoral candidates, psychiatry residents, and professional psychotherapists. Consultation sessions attend to both the personal and professional issues that arise in the work of the psychotherapist. You determine the balance between personal and professional focus based on your needs and your sense of safety and resilience in each session.
